"Sympathy for the Enemy" Inspired by Twin Daggers:

Sympathy for the Enemy

When someone is an enemy,

you don’t have to care.

When someone is an enemy,

you can focus on yourself.

But when an enemy is someone,

confusion sets in,

your mind wars with your heart.

If the enemy is a person,

do you have to treat them like one?

Sometimes you want an enemy

because then you know

you aren’t the problem –

they are.

Sometimes you want to be mad

because being mad is easier.

Caring means there’s a relationship.

Caring means accepting responsibilities.

Caring means you can’t put yourself first.
