Be Careful What You Wish For Part 1
Wakened by a crash,
fear filled me as I left
my magic-filled dreams behind.
I crept down the hall
and peeked around the corner –
something was bent
looking at the broken pieces
of a dropped plate.
It reached out a hand,
slowly picking up a sliver of glass,
but dropped it again
as orange blood started to drip
and a hiss of pain was emanated.
Whatever the humanoid was doing,
I wanted to pretend
ignorance of its existence.
Backing away towards
the room and dreams I had left,
I nearly cried out as another
turned into the hall
and saw me.
Running for my room,
I desperately put the door between us,
but it pushed forward
with strength far greater than my own.
I crashed to the floor,
turning my head into my carpet,
hoping whatever it was going to do
would be over quickly.
Nothing.
Gathering courage to open an eye,
both were suddenly wide in fear
at the strange, cold touch on my arm.
It was crouched in front of me.
Staring back.
It took my hand and stood,
waiting half-bent.
