Tender Golden Moments
Work. Eat.
Sleep. Repeat.
I need more from life than this,
more than the stress of work,
more than shallow, passing conversations,
more than being alive and alone.
I live for tender golden moments,
the parts where I wish time would slow
so the feelings of completeness, of belonging,
would linger with me longer.
Moments when my hand is held
Moments when my arms fit perfectly around you
as I knew they would
Moments when we find each other in a crowd
and you smile because it’s me
Moments when I’m heard
and it doesn’t really matter what I say
or what you say in return
because we’re in this space together now
Moments when you hold me close
Moments that dissolve into laughter
and we can’t remember why we started
My monotonous, gray days
have gone on too long.
I need another golden moment.
I need you
to be here.
