Monster Hunters
The monster under your bed is real—
so is the one in your closet,
in the basement,
in the attic,
in the trunk of your car,
and every other dark corner cloaked in shadow—
but, as children, we’re taught to ignore them.
These monsters plague our lives
and taunt us from every side.
We dutifully ignore and deny their existence,
as if pretending they aren’t there empowers us.
It doesn’t.
They hold all the power.
They control the darkness and expand their kingdom.
They wound us with their whispers
and keep us up all night with what ifs.
The monsters called Guilt, Shame, and Regret
hold only the power we give them,
wound us only with the weapons we provide,
lurk only where we refuse to confront them.
The monsters are real,
and you’re an untrained monster hunter.
Take back the power
and teach your children to fight the darkness with you.
