More Than a Penny
Thoughts and emotions are guarded,
though words are cheap.
If you want a meaningful sentence,
it’s going to cost the time of trust.
But ask for a story
and everything changes.
Walls comes down,
distance between fact and fiction
shrinks to fit the telling heart,
truths are unveiled—
if you know where to look.
Stories make it easier
to see our world clearly,
to make difficult decisions,
to confront ourselves.
Ask for a story,
offer a penny,
and listen for gold in the telling.
