Good Intentions
If your heart is good,then you will exude goodness—
except when what was intended
is misinterpreted.
That’s fine,
I’m sure it’ll all
work out.
Except when it doesn’t.
Except when your mess
gets messier
and every action you take
works against your end goal
and every inaction you make
escalates the anxiety boiling inside you.
When every thought is exhausting
and your eyes hurt every second
they aren’t hiding behind your eyelids,
when the prospect
of knowing the mess still exists
is as debilitating as a missing limb
and you think
everything would be better
with one small match
that would set everything on fire
so no one—
especially not you—
would have to deal
with any more consequences
of an intendedly good act gone wrong,
that is the time to accept
good intentions need good execution
and the thought
is not
all that matters.
