The Horizon’s Lie
Drawn in by glittering reflections
of reliable patterns,
the sea can’t help but be awed
by the sky it sees but cannot reach.
Attracted by the idea of more than a surface,
of hidden lights beyond,
the sky can’t help but wonder
what the sea protects.
To the casual eye,
sea and sky meet at the horizon,
but this trick keeps them tragically chasing
an impossible friendship.
