Currency of Secrets Part II
You promised not to tell—
you promised not to spend
the secret.
But sharing, you think,
isn’t the same as spending.
You look at the secret
in confidence with another,
adding to their bank of secrets.
It’s only one more person, you justify.
But one errant spark of a secret
can become a blaze.
You told the wrong person
or said it in the wrong place,
you didn’t look over your shoulder
or you said it too loud.
You lost the secret
to another willing to cash in.
